A spectre is haunting Europe, or at least Vienna. On their debut album „Bei Tageslicht“ the poetic Post-Punk duo Ein Gespenst present a look at the world on twelve songs as if someone had cut two holes into a bed sheet. The band rose up from the spring fog of the year 2020 and consists of the author Elias Hirschl and the rapper Christopher Hütmannsberger. Post-Punk riffs and New Wave synthesizers combined with electronic sounds and texts that will haunt you for days and days. They oscillate between melancholy and feelings of misplacement while still holding on to those satirical sidesteps. As if Joy Division had been conjured up by Spoken Word poets during a séance. A spectre trying to breathe new life into others and to make the world just a little bit more bearable. The album „Ein Gespenst – Bei Tageslicht“ will be released on 14 October 2022 on vinyl and as a digital download on the Viennese label Strizzico.
Inspiriert von der Kälte von Naturdokumentationen und dem emotionalen Detritus, der nach einem langen intensiven Abend in einer Bar auf dem Tisch liegen bleibt, sind die Songs manchmal brutales Easy Listening, voller Harmonien und subtilen Rhythmuswechseln sowie Spaß.
