On May 6th, 1998 the bar "rhiz - sonic bar modern" was opened. The rhiz emerged from a non-profit association that was responsible for such legendary festivals as phonoTAKTIK.95 or PICKNICK MIT HERRMANN 1997 and thus made a significant contribution to the manifestation of the Viennese electronic scene at home and abroad, which was then also recognized worldwide for the first time.
To this day, "rhiz Vienna" - despite or perhaps because of its small size - offers a stage that is widely known for its great sound and a reputed vital home base for several generations of aspiring underground music fans away from the mainstream, far beyond the original core interest of electronic music.
