FANTAST ist ein Crossover-Trio, das es sich zwischen den Stühlen experimenteller Hip-Hop, Worldbeats und Alternative/Industrial unbequem macht. Synthesizer treffen auf Live-Drums, subby Bässe und Lyrics, die sich die Frage nach der eigenen Rolle im allgegenwärtigen Tanz am Rande des Abgrunds stellen. Wie konnte es nur soweit kommen und warum machen wir so weiter? Das Geschwisterpaar Daniel und Mario Gschwendtner sowie Georg Wolfmayr, Wahlwiener in Zeiten politischer Unruhe, fabrizieren Musik als poetischen Aktivismus. Ihre energetischen Live-Shows: ein Fest des Empowerments! Angesichts der täglichen kleinen und großen Niederlagen dient ihnen Musik als Instrument für das Schaffen und Entwerfen, Fantasieren und Einbilden einer anderen Welt.
Nach Konzerten in Österreich und einer ersten Single-Veröffentlichung im Jahr 2018 erscheint nun die erste EP der Kombo. FANTASTs EP arbeitet sich an der Unheimlichkeit des Erinnerns an das eigene Aufwachsen und der Übermacht der Vergangenheit ab, am endlosen Beschuss durch Retro-Dauerschleifen und Ursprünglichkeitsversprechen. Die Gegenwart als Zeitmaschine, die nur rückwärts funktioniert. Eingehüllt in die wohlig warmen Glitzerwelten vergangener Zeiten macht sich eine Melancholie der Zukunftslosigkeit breit, einer Ernüchterung angesichts der ewigen Wiederkehr Desselben und des schon längst überwunden Geglaubten.

For a long time now, the scene has been brewing below the surface, gearing up for a big change. To Darwin it was something like a primordial soup, with genres serving as the amino acids, combining to form something new and alive.
The goal was not to simply write songs but to draw from the individual preferences of the five-member collective, creating something outwith the restrictions of any one kind of sound. The harmonious blend of acoustic and electronic music that the band is known for today, began with the fusion of genres ranging from rock to pop to drum‘n‘bass, dubstep, tekkno and many more.

Just as life was created through the unification of seemingly unmatching parts, the music created by this band whilst at its core is a mere collection of parts, transforms into a groundbreaking sound unfettered by the boundaries of the traditional concepts of genres.
