Struma+Iodine

The solo project of Luxembourgish-Finnish musician Maria Rossi has been described as one of the most striking ones to emerge from Glasgow’s underground scene in a decade. Cucina Povera is named after the Italian culinary concept which emphasises the use of a few simple ingredients, she conjures gorgeous, otherworldly songs about nourishment and precarity from layered vocals and electronics. Live, her music unfolds beautifully, as beguiling melodies emerge from harmonic drones and looped phrases. recordings blend clear, unaffected voice and minimal synth.

The focus of Misonica´s live sets is the voice as an instrument. Voices of human and more than human agents collide in floating superimpositions. Her sounds explore the paths of togetherness and of the in-between, they are deeply atmospheric and relate to a larger narrative.
