12TON ist ein Veranstaltungszyklus für neue Musik, der im Herbst 2020 auf dem Brick-5 Areal in Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus ins Leben gerufen wurde. Der Ausgangspunkt dieser Veranstaltungsreihe bezieht sich auf Werke von Komponistinnen des 20. und 21. Jahrhunderts. Primär geht es darum einen musikalischen Dialog zwischen den Werken von lebenden Komponistinnen aus dem 21. Jahrhundert und renommierten Komponist*innen aus dem 20. Jahrhundert herzustellen. Bei dieser Ausgabe von 12TON liegt der Fokus auf Nam June Paik (1932 – 2006), Pionier der Videokunst und einer der Hauptvertreter der Fluxus Bewegung. Dafür lädt 12TON zeitgenössische Vertreter wie Stefano D´Alessio, Leonhard Pill aka Larica und Paul Ebhart zu einem klanglichen aber auch bildnerischen Austausch zwischen diesen beiden Generationen ein.

Das Konzept dieser Reihe soll aus musikalischer – aber auch charakterlich und persönlicher Sicht – eine Brücke zwischen den Generationen und gleichzeitig Gemeinsamkeiten und Gegensätze innerhalb des weiten Feldes zeitgenössischer Musik herstellen. Die Veranstaltungsreihe 12TON wird vom Labor für Kunst- und Kulturproduktion (Schayan Kazemi) kuratiert.

Stefano D’Alessio (1987, Italy) is a New Media artist and composer, lives and works in Vienna. He creates interactive performances and installations, combining visuals, sound, physical computing and performance through programming.
His research addresses the digitization of the human in new technologies, virtual representations of the “real” and the distortions and perceptive amplifications caused by them. His work involves the human body as a subject for analyzing, coding, and decoding processes of the real/physical, into digital/abstract, questioning the ephemeral limits between machine and body, artificial intelligence and consciousness.
With a degree in Visual Art and Theatre at the IUAV University of Venice, Stefano D’Alessio is regularly teaching new media for interactive arts with Klaus Obermaier, at bachelor, master, and post-graduate master courses at the IUAV University and at the Linz University of Arts.

Since 2010 he regularly collaborates with Martina Menegon and Klaus Obermaier on different art projects, furthermore, he realized music and interactive visuals for various artists, musicians, choreographers and theatre directors.

Leonhard Thomas Pill, born in Munich, lives and works as a filmmaker and sound artist in Vienna. Together with the death metal band Over Your Threshold, he released an album internationallyon Metal Blade Records in 2012. After studying psychology, his first film works were shown at the Austrian Cultural Forum in Belgrade or at the Crossing Europe Film Festival. In his works, hedeals with languages and examines groups and social structures. In 2021, he received a BMKÖS start-up grant for film art as well as the annual grant of the province of Salzburg for film. He iscurrently preparing a new documentary film and is converting light into sound as part of the TVJing.

Paul Ebhart, lives and works in Vienna. Sporadic musical interruptions laying over perpetual ostinatos complement the sonic world of Ebhart with expertise and amateurism in a constant tension ratio. Fully dedicated to loose structures and improvisation as a core element. Likewise aiming for rhythmic repetition and synthetic sequences, supported by heavy signal processing. Ebhart is working in different musical constellations, including avant-garde music and performance project taurus and gross module.
Up to this date he is a fanatic music collector whose journey into music started with Djing in Viennas Clubs in his teenage years. Emerging out of the experimental electronic music scene in Vienna he is playing live shows as well as DJ sets. He has been working on sound commissions for brands like Balenciaga or the artist and choreographer Willi Dorner and has released music on labels such as Osàre! Editions (Amsterdam), Westbahn (Vienna) and Sameheads (Berlin) among others.“
