On May 6th, 1998 the bar “rhiz – sonic bar modern” was opened. The rhiz emerged from a non-profit association that was responsible for such legendary festivals as phonoTAKTIK.95 or PICKNICK MIT HERRMANN 1997 and thus made a significant contribution to the manifestation of the Viennese electronic scene at home and abroad, which was then also recognized worldwide for the first time.

To this day, “rhiz Vienna” – despite or perhaps because of its small size – offers a stage that is widely known for its great sound and a reputed vital home base for several generations of aspiring underground music fans away from the mainstream, far beyond the original core interest of electronic music.

Unique and always open to new ideas: rhiz Vienna stands for extraordinary music and new projects and experiments in electronic music. Whether live or DJs, a varied program of different music styles in the best quality offers many perspectives and approaches that artists and guests can freely combine.

Rhiz is located directly on the Gürtel, beneath the historic Stadtbahn arches, making it easy to reach by public transport, bike, or on foot.

Car:
Parking is limited in the area, so we strongly recommend using public transport. If you do drive, paid parking is available on surrounding streets, but spaces fill up quickly. Parking tickets can be purchased at nearby parking meters, via mobile apps like Handy Parken, or at “Tabak Trafik” shops. The nearest Trafik is Trafik Burgasse, located at Burggasse 106, just a 5-minute walk away. Payment is only required during weekdays (Mon-Fri, 9 AM–10 PM) and Saturdays (9 AM–5 PM).
